Following on from last year’s event in York, Room151 are bringing LGPS North back to Manchester. This time we are headed to the Kimpton Clocktower in Manchester for another half-day of deep discussion and quality networking. Expect quality gastronomy and insight into key investment and asset allocation themes in a setting and format conducive to generating real insights beyond the headlines.

It was a highly informative session, ideally located for LGPS investors in the North of England. Great range of asset managers, pool representatives, advisors, and LGPS peers.

I thought it was a great venue, really good opportunity to network with some good speakers. I liked the fact that it was a smaller more focused regional conference, gave an opportunity to hear views from a different set of people.

head of LGPS, Redington

Very enjoyable event with a good range of topics covered. Great to hear the range of views across the various panel sessions. Great networking opportunity.

The future of the LGPS – structural change & cashflow pressures

The LGPS is changing again with the relationship between pools and administering authorities shifting and the roles of investment consultants and independent advisors are also in flux. Yet amid all this change, the pressures of negative cashflows maintaining a healthy funding ratio remain. How may structural reforms impact strategic investment decisions and what will a healthy LGPS look like in 2030?

Nature-positive investing & biodiversity considerations

Nature-positive investing and concerns for biodiversity have come to the fore in recent years, be it through sustainable natural capital allocations, carbon or nature credits exposure, or a growing concern in public markets for biodiversity and the negative impacts nature-depletion can have on your investment portfolio. So where are the risks and what are the opportunities for you as an investor to make a difference for the natural world whilst achieving healthy returns?

UK venture capital for the LGPS – a new frontier

It is fair to say that the risk appetite for venture capital has not always been there for the LGPS, but with the UK venture space maturing and universities increasingly incubators of various pharmaceutical, FinTech, AI and climate start-ups could venture form a bigger part of the LGPS growth oriented assets and if so, how should they best access these opportunities?
