Prior to joining Ruffer in 2014, he spent seven years as a senior economist at Lombard Street Research, an independent macroeconomic research consultancy, with a specific focus on the UK, US and eurozone economies. He graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2006 with a first class honours degree in Economics. He is currently a member of the IEA’s Shadow Monetary Policy Committee.

Joined Ruffer in 2012, having graduated from Edinburgh University with an MA Honours in French and Spanish. He became a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment following completion of the CISI Diploma, receiving the highest mark in that year. He manages portfolios predominantly for institutional clients and is co-manager of two of Ruffer’s flagship funds.

Richard is CIO at LPPI and has responsibility for management of all investment and client activity.

Richard has more than 20 years of investment experience. Prior to joining LPP in 2017, Richard was Head of Portfolio Advisory (EMEA) at Albourne Partners for six years where he advised European investors on alternative investments, portfolio construction and risk management. Earlier in his career, Richard was Head of Multi-Strategy at Old Mutual Asset Managers and prior to this an analyst at GNI Fund Management. Richard holds a degree and a master’s degree in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.

Ian leads the Alternatives investment team at Border to Coast Pensions Partnership and is responsible for overseeing the investment of c£10bn in commitments from its 11 LGPS Partner Funds. He has more than 20 years’ investment experience and joined Border to Coast in 2018 following a role as Senior Portfolio Manager at East Riding Pension Fund.

Jonathan oversees the investment strategy of the fund management businesses which form the Octopus fund management group which manages more than £10 billion of retail and institutional money. Octopus Investments is a multi-strategy alternatives manager, helping investors to generate long-term income and capital growth by investing in sustainable infrastructure and real estate, to back some of Europe’s fastest-growing, most disruptive businesses and to solve some of society’s greatest challenges.

He joined Octopus in February 2015 as Product Head for Octopus Inheritance Tax Service. Before joining Octopus, Jonathan ran a team at Lloyds that looked after the bank’s non-core equity portfolio. He also undertook stints at BNP Paribas, Robert Fleming and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Jonathan is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has an MA in Geography from the University of Oxford.

Luke is CIO at the Greater London Authority, where his team oversees financing major infrastructure investments, corporate treasury, collective investment arrangements for the GLA and its partners, and pensions policy. As part of that role, he is the managing director of London Treasury Limited, the GLA’s regulated asset management subsidiary. He splits his time between City Hall and the board of the Pension SuperFund, a consolidator of corporate DB schemes, which he co-founded and launched in 2018.

He has worked in pensions and asset and liability management since 2005 and as Chief Finance and Risk Officer of the London Pension Fund Authority from 2013-15, played a leading role in spearheading the consolidation of Local Government Pension Schemes through the creation of LPP, the first pooled LGPS vehicle.

Luke is an active volunteer in public finance, currently Vice Chairman of CIPFA’s Capital and Treasury Management Panel, which drafts statutory prudential guidance for the public services and a member the Public Sector Deposit Fund’s Advisory Board. He is a former member of the Bank of England’s Money Markets Committee. Outside of finance, he is a Senior Judge at the International Wine Challenge and an investor, board member and occasional gymnastics coach at CFLDN, the East London gym that brought CrossFit to Europe. His questionable fashion choices include the frequent wearing of bow-ties.

Neil has been the Principal Investment Manager for the £12billion Tyne and Wear Pension Fund for over two years. The role is responsible all aspects of the Fund’s investment portfolio including setting the Investment Strategy and asset allocation, managing the investment structure and implementing the responsible investment policy.  During his time at the Fund he has been heavily involved in developing the response to climate change as well as supporting the pooling Agenda and making new investments Residential Property and various private market funds.

In previous roles Neil worked at PIRC in client relations with a focus on the LGPS Performance universe and he also spent 10 years at CIPFA running the Pensions Network. This involved a range of activities supporting the LGPS from producing various guidance documents, delivering advice and training and facilitating conferences and other networking events. Neil is a CIPFA qualified accountant who has worked in or around Local Government for over 25 years.

Iain is a Senior Investment Consultant at Hymans Robertson, specialising in advising the LGPS. Iain has experience at a number of consultancies, and as a Pensions Officer of an LGPS Fund.  Iain focusses on advising clients on the key areas of investment strategy, strategic and tactical asset allocation, as well as manager selection and monitoring.  He also has significant experience in responsible investment covering policies, modelling and setting climate ambitions, targets and pathways, reporting progress along these journeys and Stewardship Code submissions.
