Nuwan Goonetilleke is the Interim Group Chief Investment Officer and CEO of Retirement Solutions & Asset Management at Standard Life, where he leads the organisation’s global investment strategy as part of its mission as a leading UK retirement income and long-term savings business.

He oversees diversified public and private market portfolios to deliver strong, resilient long-term returns for millions of customers, supported by rigorous investment governance and disciplined risk management. A key focus is the continued growth of Standard Life’s Pension Risk Transfer and annuity businesses, which play an increasingly important role in the UK retirement landscape.

Nuwan has over 20 years’ experience in financial markets, including more than 15 years as a portfolio manager specialising in fixed income and rates. He previously held senior investment roles at Swiss Re Asset Management and began his career at Credit Suisse. He holds a degree from the University of Aberdeen

Steven has had a long and distinguished career as an economist and macro portfolio manager. He was an Economic Adviser at the UK Treasury, and Head of Global Markets Research and Chief Economist of Deutsche’s investment Bank. He also has investment experience, having been head of Multi Asset at Morgan Grenfell after which he ran a successful global macro hedge fund which he continued on rejoining the asset management industry in a firm which became Columbia Threadneedle Asset Management, where he was also Chief Economist. Steven has economics degrees from the London School of Economics and Stanford University.
