Our compère, Steven Bell, former portfolio manager and chief economist with Deutsche Asset Management, talks to a special guest, a veteran of the investment world, about anything from their career highs and lows to the current state of markets and geo-politics.

Timings & Agenda

The next meeting will take place on March 25th in a private space at city institution Luc’s Brasserie from 5pm-7pm and will be compered by the incomparable Steven Bell, formerly global chief economist with Deutsche Asset Management and chief economist, EMEA, at Columbia Threadneedle. As master of ceremonies, Steven will keep special guest speakers focussed on the task in hand.

You will be hearing from Sir Nigel Wilson, current chair of the Canary Wharf Group and Cambridge Innovation Capital and previously the CEO of Legal & General from 2012-2024.

Sir Nigel will be exploring the challenges facing the UK economy, tackling the systematic underinvestment, the internationally significant gap between London and our secondary cities like Bristol, Sheffield, Newcastle and Birmingham, and the kind of projects and structural changes needed for a flourishing economy. He will be exploring the merits of projects like HS2, Hinkley Point and Heathrow expansion and discussing what kind of less media-friendly projects may have the greatest impact. All this in the context of what this means for institutional investors.
