David Ashmore has been the Director of Housing Services at Manchester City Council, since July 2021 and has led the successful integration of the ALMO into the Council as well spearheading the City’s Homelessness Service. David has led the development of Manchester’s A Place Called Home strategy whose mission is to ensure that a warm, safe and sustainable home is a reality for Manchester residents rather than an aspiration.
Prior to joining Manchester, David was the Director of Housing and Transformation at Coventry City Council, leading the significant service improvement of the Homelessness Service (LGC Team of the Year) and a host of resident facing change programmes, as well as many aspects of the City’s response to Covid.
David cut his directorial teeth at the London Borough of Lambeth, leading a wide range of award winning corporate and resident services. David began his local government career in the deeply analogue year of 1990.
